Getting girls to be physically active at school has many benefits

With the start of the school year upon us, we can ask ourselves what means we will prioritize this year to get our young people to be more physically active.

Considering all the positive impacts of physical activity on students’ energy levels as well as on their mental health and concentration at school, getting all young people moving can become our mission for the 2023-2024 school year.

Given the low rate of participation of girls in sports activities (nine out of ten girls do not do enough physical activity during their teenage years), the FitSpirit organization has a mission to help teenage girls adopt a more physically active lifestyle. In a context of fun, team spirit, fulfillment and commitment, the organization offers turnkey programs for schools. Whether it’s walking, dancing, running or yoga, the FitSpirit Program includes all the detailed workouts and training needed to support young people and make schools more active.

Organizing sports activities that meet the needs of the girls in your community is another possibility. Involve them in choosing the programming and highlight the pleasure of practicing physical activity as a group.

Égale Action also offers support to foster a better understanding of the needs of teenage girls. Many trainings and useful tools are available to school workers and coaches (French only).
