Elder care and wellness

Our elder care and wellness services

Looking out for our seniors

Within their nation, community and family, First Nations elders play a vital role. Their knowledge, experiences and wisdom are valuable assets to our peoples, brothers, sisters and children. Their contribution to society, both culturally and socially, is invaluable.

Through its training, dissemination of information and promotional initiatives, we support, prepare and educate First Nations communities and organizations in the prevention of elder abuse and the promotion of their wellness.

Promoting prevention

We work with the workers to allow them to expand their knowledge and skills related to the prevention of various forms of mistreatment, the detection of signs, support methods and intervention in the field. We help communities define their needs and find appropriate solutions.

We collaborate with various partners, both governmental and philanthropic, in our actions aiming to counter elder abuse. We work in particular with the governments of Canada and Quebec with regard to communications as well as requests for information from adult care establishments and seniors’ residences.

Raising population awareness

Our work supports raising the awareness of individuals with respect to the difficulties experienced by seniors, such as changes in lifestyle, overcrowded conditions, poverty and isolation. We also participate in various events and conferences at the provincial level aimed at improving understanding of the realities and specific needs of First Nations seniors.
