Tribute to a woman dedicated to the wellness of women and elders in her community

We would like to congratulate Marie-Angèle Bellefleur on her nomination for the Prix Hommage Aînés (elder tribute award) for the Côte-Nord region.

The Prix Hommage Aînés are organized annually by the Government of Quebec, with the aim of highlighting the exceptional contributions of a senior from each region. This contribution to the community must in particular promote the wellness of seniors and their participation in the life of the community of which they are a part. The Executive Director of FNQLHSSC, Marjolaine Siouï, went to Unamen Shipu a few weeks ago and took the opportunity to give her a gift to thank her for her contribution to the community.

Marie-Angèle is an inspiring woman who is actively involved in the community of Unamen Shipu.

She works particularly with women while encouraging them to be resilient and preventing and fighting against all forms of violence. She is a helpful, welcoming and reassuring woman who is open to others. She always takes the time to listen to and understand people who need to be listened to.

As the transmission of Innu values is also very important to her, she takes the time to share her knowledge with different generations, including teachings on traditional Innu bread and tents and the preparation of wild game.

Once again, congratulations, Ms. Bellefleur, for this highly deserved honour!
