In the last few years, Québec’s First Nations communities have invested a great deal of effort in the creation and development of services and programs for their members. It has been a learning process, one that has encouraged First Nations members to think about developing long-term capacities within their communities and exercising their inherent rights to manage and exploit their resources.
The purpose of this document is to present an overview of the most significant elements that have played a role in shaping programs such as childcare and other services related to early childhood development in the First Nations of Québec.
