Consultations under the Collaborative Process on Indian Registration, Band Membership and First Nation Citizenship were launched on June 12, 2018, to seek input on three consultation streams: the implementation of the removal of the 1951 cut-off from the Indian Act (delayed coming-into-force provisions in Bill S-3); remaining inequities related to registration and membership under the Indian Act; and how to go about transferring the exclusive responsibility for the membership and citizenship to First Nations.
