Quebec First Nations are faced with major health human resources issues. However, to date, no exhaustive report has been available to allow for an analysis of the situation. The report provides a portrait of health and social services human resources in non-agreement First Nations communities in Quebec. In all, 29 communities and one First Nations organization participated in the project.
The report illustrates the major issues facing First Nations communities, particularly regarding the sustainability of the continuum of services, and the hiring and retention of staff. The report provides comparisons with the province, possible avenues for actions to improve the accessibility and quality of human resources as well as best practices identified throughout data collection.
